Embrace the Process of Your Ambitious Pursuits

I started not to blog about this but I had to get it out. I had the most vivid dream last night. I’ve been having real-life dreams since I was a teenager. My family and friends often tease me about my dreams because of their comedic and sometimes unbelievable characteristics. For example, a few weeks ago, I had a dream a rhinoceros was chasing me around a school. My wife said I was even running in my sleep during the dream. (#TrueStory) Every once in a while, the dream includes a celebrity or some famous person. In those dreams, we even know one another. The dream that occurred last night was perfect timing for where I am with the Craig King Group and contributed to my ambitious pursuits. I think this dream will contribute to yours as well.

The setting of the dream was my old middle school in Manning, South Carolina, which is now Manning Elementary School. The dream took place in the gymnasium on a side hallway that runs on the left side of the stage. In the dream, I walked across the stage and met Kobe Bryant in the center. He was wearing an all-black suit, which makes sense. He is the “Black Mamba” ya know. I said, “Kobe, can I holla at you for a second?” He said “sure Craig” and we walked down the steps to the hallway adjacent to the stage. I explained to Kobe I had many ambitious pursuits I wanted to accomplish with the Craig King Group and in life. I wanted to know what the best way to accomplish them all.

He simply said “embrace the process Craig”.

He then went to correlate it to basketball. He said "dribble a little today and then dribble a little bit tomorrow." He started laughing and apologized for the cheesy explanation but I told him he said exactly what I needed to hear. There was one specific pursuit I asked him about and he looked at me and said “embrace the process Craig”. I won’t disclose the pursuit right now because it is still a work in progress. We laughed, exchanged the man handshake, and exited the gym. After that, my alarm clock started buzzing. I told my wife, Tasia about the dream this morning while we were getting ready for work. She was excited for me because she agreed with everything the Black Mamba said. This was a message I couldn’t keep to myself and wanted to share with all of you.

This dream was validation for all the thoughts I was having in regards to impacting lives. The dream was sound wisdom and guidance from the Black Mamba. I want all of my pursuits to come to fruition.

At the same time, I was reminded by Mr. Bryant that the process is worth embracing just as much as the outcome. In many cases, our ambitious pursuits represent the grand prize. WOW, Our. Ambitious. Pursuits. Represent. The. Grand. Prize. With this mindset, you are sure to be successful.

How many you reading this feel stuck when it comes to your dreams? How many of you are frustrated with the process? I get it, really I do. However, we all need to understand the process is what makes our pursuit worth the blood, sweat, and tears. The pursuit is what challenges our character and makes our mission much greater. So many known and unknown people are depending on your pursuit alone. When you think about that, it's pretty amazing people are going to benefit from your successes and failures along the way. Yes, through failure and rising to overcome the result of those failures will benefit someone. That alone make your pursuits worth it.

I want to give a shout out to Mr. Kobe "Bean" "Black Mamba" Bryant for his words of wisdom which confirmed the importance of the process. The absolute crazy part about my dream was it sounded like something Kobe would say to me in real life. If anyone knows Kobe, share this post with him. I want to know what he thinks.

Thanks for reading.
